Someone linked the rules in this thread: LINK
One rule that may not be in the linked rules because it is a "house" rule is that it's a 2 minute penalty if you clear the ball out of the field while you are in the back third.
With some of the refs, you occasionally have to remind them of the rules. I think all of the refs are new to the whole indoor soccer thing. Most of the refs have been pretty laid back.

i've only had one ref enforce this rule and that was in mens premier. in womens and coed they really don't care.

I've only had them enforce it once as well. They will only issue the penalty if it is cleared over the boards on purpose...if it is a deflection or mis-kick they will let it slide.

i did it on purpose the other day so we could get a keeper change and the guy didn't call it. he was a younger guy and probably the best ref we've had out there. he wasn't calling shite and let us play

lol...nice. I think i know the ref you are talking about, he has done 3 of our games and always been good.

Meh. Our guy last week called it on us. Our keeper was by himself, and just shanked (horribly) the upfield pass. He considered it a clearance.

The refs can be spotty. The older guy that refs did not call a penalty for two clears out the back third but then tried to call a penalty for clearing it into the net. I had to remind him of the rule, and he corrected himself.
The problem is everyone are still learning the rules. It is a work in progress. That is why I did not mention the intent element of the rule. I wouldn't count on not getting called for a penalty just because you didn't intend to clear it out if play.

yea differentiating the rules and how the refs use the whistle takes a little time to get used to. reminds me of playing on the road against private schools in hoops, if you enjoyed the sounds of whistles those were the games to go to.

i found those same rules when i googled. Wasnt sure if they had any house rules though.
Looking forward to my first game tonight
Ill prob last 5 minutes before i puke. Oh and there is a touch line correct? Does that mean if the ball is played off the wall it is out?

You can play of the walls and the touchline is only used for balls that go out of play.

Yeah, make sure you orient yourself properly in regards to defending with the walls.
This has already become my go-to clowning move for indoor, replacing the nutmeg, which I use often, but with minimal success, outdoor.

Yeah for the most part the refereeing has been alright, we've had one guy twice who was great, just let everyone play and if it got a little bit rough he would blow the whistle and let everyone know to tighten back up. We had this one old guy who was just awful though, everytime the ball cleared the glass he gave a blue card. We literally were atleast 1 man down for 20 minutes of the game easily, it was this way for both teams, kinda takes the fun out of it.

that old guy is freakin miserable. he would not move out of the way of the ball or players. he literally stopped the ball 10+ times in one game. we also had several people run straight in to him. he is the shittiest ref i've ever seen

had him again friday night.....this time he only stopped the ball twice when he was too lazy to move out of the way

We haven't had any issues with the dude that ref's the 30+ matches. Dunno who he is, though.

I wish they would explain the rule for clearing the ball out in the back third to all of the refs at once. One of the old refs--they have two, who are both pretty bad--on Friday night was giving a 2 minute penalty for clearing the ball into the net and for the ball bouncing out of bounds. Conveniently, he did not ref Jason's game, where Jason could have corrected his ignorance. The damn rule changes from game to game.

you're either on my team or we played you friday night
and honestly i don't think jason knows the rules himself. i asked the ref at half about the dumb shite that he called a time out for the ball going into the net, and he's like duhhhh beans, that's the rule. so i told him to get with jason and they needed a unified set of rules cause we all couldn't keep up. freaking ridiculous

I was on the losing team. If you were on the team that beat us, that was the funnest game we played this season because it was actually competitive. We killed the first 2 teams we played.
Jason explained the rule to our team when they first implemented it, and I distinctly remember him saying you could clear it into the net and there would not be a penalty.
We also have had issues with playing one of our girls in goal. The other old ref tried telling us she did count as one of the 3 girls on the field because the keeper is "gender neutral".
