Family trip to Purgatory this week. Kids first time on skis, great trip. Ski school program both group and private were great. I was shocked how well they were skiing after 5 days. Three days of heavy snow, two warm, sunny and clear days. Heavy snow again this morning.
For me, purgatory never disappoints. Moderate crowds on weekends, very light crowds on weekdays. I no longer push it too much so I can’t comment on the most difficult terrain but if you are looking for solid blues and blacks Purgatory I always have plenty of options.
Purgatory has had some rough years in terms of snow fall, so that is definitely something to monitor when planning your trip and if snowfall is below averages I would look elsewhere. But if snow fall is decent/average, I love Purgatory.

We got hit at heavenly with strong winds and decent snow. Too many lifts shut down because of wind.
Want to make my way to Purgatory if possible...but not seeing it happen.
I hear keystone is prime right now.
Deer Valley has been windy as well this season.

Guys,
Heading to Breck/Key on Wednesday evening. What has travel/road conditions between Denver and Summit County been like? Just wife and I this trip and considering the shuttle service rather than renting vehicle and driving. I've made that drive probably 20 times with no issues whatsoever, however just wondering if this time might be different. Watching the news you'd swear avalanches are happening up and down !70. The limited research I've done mentioned closures beyond Frisco to Vail. Just looking for some insight from those in the know.

Heading to Aspen Wednesday night. Can't freaking wait given that snow totals across central Colorado for the past few weeks have been off the charts. Flying direct from Houston so we won't have to deal with I-70.
It's our first time in Aspen (we typically ski Breck/Copper/Vail/BC). Any tips on where to drink and eat? Also advice on which mountain we should spend most of our time on is appreciated. Will be four guys at what you consider loosely as expert level - can basically do most anything the mountain has to offer. TY!

It could change from day to day. Only thing you can do if you're dead set on driving is monitor the road conditions reported on the CDOT website regularly before and during your drive. Good luck! We'll be around the corner in Aspen same time.

Changes every day. Good luck going Wednesday night. We are expecting 8” of snow in Denver on Wednesday. Which means the mountains are getting even more usually.

I think it really depends on your skiing ability. I find that if you are beginner-intermediate, the Basin runs out of terrain, especially groomed terrain, quickly. Even advanced skiers can run out of options. But if you are truly able to ski pretty much anything a mountain can throw at you and you want to push yourself into steeper/tighter/more technical terrain, then the Basin delivers. Look in the trees of Pallavicini and the Alleys to find small straightline chutes and cliffs, such as Land of Gnarnia, Turbo/West Turbo, Gauthier, etc. Hike the East Wall to experience some big mountain lines in an avalanche controlled environment. Plus now they have the Steep Gullies accessible to also fill your adventure skiing appetite. Hit Montezuma if you want some open bowl skiing. I will never tire of their steep tree skiing, hike-to terrain, and thousands of terrain features hidden all over the mountain to play on and jump off. There have been days where I have ridden nothing but Pallavicini Lift...and they were some of the best days skiing of my life. Plus you don't have to take 2-3 lifts to get to the good terrain like other resorts (looking at you Breck). The base area starts at 10,780ft, and you can ski from the parking lot to the best lift on the mountain (Pallavicini). That alone makes it a winner for me. Also, Wrangler and Sundance are the best green runs in Summit County, possibly Colorado.
If all you ski are groomers, you’re not going to enjoy it all that much and you’ll run out of stuff to ski quickly. If you get off piste and like exploring it truly is a paradise for expert skiers and riders.

It's always Loveland/the tunnels to Vail Pass that have issues when there's a big snow storm. The avalanches have been in that area and the surrounding roads in that region.
It's probably going to be sketchy Wednesday with a really powerful low dropping a blizzard on the NE part of Colorado. The additional snow and wind may end up having 70 closed for a period of time. At least it's going to be the southern mountains likely to get dumped on the most.
Check CDOT as you get going.

It's not a bad idea considering you're going to Break. There's actually stuff there, so you won't really need to drive anyway.

Just booked my second Heavenly trip of the season for April 2-10.
Plan on getting a day or two at Kirkwood and maybe one at Northstar.
I was there in early February when it dumped about 10ft in 10 days.

Shuttle service booked! As mentioned I've done this drive many times, however, given the conditions forecasted for Wednesday I'd rather not temp fate.

I guess my concern about the drive to Breck is unwarranted since my fricking flight to Denver got cancelled this morning 
Having to cancel the entire trip (which was only skiing thursday and friday) but i guess that's the way it goes. Just hoping i can reschedule to next week or the following without losing a bunch of $$.

My work closed today and all the Denver schools are cancelled, this is supposed to be a doozy. It is just raining now with some wind gusts but they are expecting 10" of snow and 60 mph wind.

Pueblo hit an all time record low pressure this morning and its just starting to tighten up. Blizzard incoming but also a pretty gnarly approach into Denver in a plane today.

Went to Tahoe from Feb 28th-March 4th. Our first day of skiing on Heavenly was the 29th and the timing was perfect. The gondola had been closed the entire week before we were set to ski and it opened up literally that day.
First time every skiing and me and my fiance had a blast. We took the beginner lesson the first morning and by the end of our second day she was doing well on the harder greens and I was doing well on the easier blues.
Can't wait to go back. We want to go skiing of course but also want to go back to Tahoe during the summer time because we absolutely loved Lake Tahoe. Actually proposed to my gf while I was there.
