Airlines will cancel your round trip back home if you don’t board the 2nd leg of your flight. So it would only really work on a one-way flight. You would have to book return flights separately.

But as others have stated, airlines will monitor passengers for it nowadays.

Exactly. Once you miss one leg the rest of the itinerary is canceled by the airline.

Same outbound flight, same dates and times from MSY to LHR? $1100.

This was common before Covid I haven’t looked much sense. There were some very cheap fares to Paris/spots other than London via MSY-LHR. While the same MSY-LHR flight was 1200-1300.

It is not worth it to me. I fly 40-50 times a year and don't want to risk getting canceled by an airline.

but haven't found one that the cost was substantially different enough to actually try it.

Its in no way worth the risk if caught.

We did it once going to Las Vegas about 10 years ago before skiplagging was a popular concept.

The flight from Houston to Las Vegas direct was around $400, and a flight to Los Angeles going through Las Vegas was only $200 because we had a four hour layover.

We bought the flight to los Angeles and when the plane stopped in Vegas, we simply got off and stayed. Got a one way ticket from Vegas back to Houston on the cheap.

When booking sometimes through a 3rd party site they will do it without you knowing. The only tip off is there's a warning to bring carry on baggage only and no checked bags.

One time I was walking through an airport and passed by one of the gates where two dudes had just gotten busted for this. The woman at the desk told them "sorry, your bags are going to Seattle, and you two are banned"

Desk agent had such anger in her voice. She was personally offended by them.

Found a boat I wanted to buy in NC once while I was traveling. We connected in CLT so I skipped my leg home and went and bought the boat.

No issue.

So, were those two guys that stupid to try this with CHECKED bags? How do they think they were going to get their luggage?
