Chicargo is train city, and for DC to NYC train travel is safer and with higher safety standards.

Just the other day, Amtrack was rolling along the rails from New Orleans to Jackson, then on to Chicargo when it impacted a semi truck towing another large truck. This is the reason Amtrack is not the safest mode of transport or even close. Fortunately for the train crew and passengers no one was injured, but the two truck occupants were killed. The train struck the truck while stuck across the railway on a private piece of land in Byram, MS. No crossing guards were available at the crossing.

Pitiful situation for a public transport to have to encounter.

We took it in the northeast and it was cool. I'd like to do an actual trip and see the sites passing by on the train.

The DC to Boston corridor is the only place in the US where trains are efficiently run and commonly used for more than just daily commuting. The large metropolitan areas close together are the most European part of the US where like in Europe trains are a way of life.

I’d love to take a train out west. It would be nice to sit back and relax and look at the scenery instead of having to drive. When you drive you see the scenery but you don’t get to really soak it in because you’re behind the wheel. But I’m never going to be able to get my wife on a train for a long trip.
