Long Weekend in the West Bungalows (opened Oct 2024) at Rio Perdido.
7am United flight to Liberia, CR with a short connection in IAH.
Woke up to find out that all flights into LIR were cancelled due to heavy rains and flooding. We were rebooked to a flight the following day, but that wouldn’t work for our schedules, need to make it to Costa Rica today.
Rebooked into San Jose and arranged a transfer van for the 4hr drive to from SJO to Rio Perdido. Hopeful landslides and flooding don’t keep us from reaching our destination today.

Good luck man, never been to Rio Perdido but love Costa Rica, sucks that a 1 hour trip from the airport is now 4 hours. Thankfully most of the major roads there are usually ok. Hope everything works out.

Made it to Rio Perdido! 4.5hrs after leaving San Jose. The roads from San Jose to Limonal are less than ideal, two lane highways where we averaged about 25mph. From Limonal to Bagaces it was smooth sailing.
Arrived after dark, so will take some pictures tomorrow. However, I will say, the West Bungalows are great! Double outdoor showers, huge outdoor tub, floor to ceiling windows, all overlooking the forest with the sound of the rushing river in the background.
