No idea what that guy was talking about $4k-$6k not being enough to travel internationally. That's plenty.

Then read the rest of the thread.

Again, I didn't say it wasn't possible. And honestly, when I was thinking "internationally", I had it in my mind as more of Europe and beyond - not the Caribbean, which was wrong on my part.

All I said was I wouldn't want to eat into my budget so significantly on flights.

If you go anywhere where hurricanes are a possibility.....make sure to invest in good travel insurance.

My husband and I got married in October...we actually postponed our honeymoon until March because October is right in the middle of the rainy season in CR. Still felt like a honeymoon. Something to consider depending on where you want to go.

I'll give you my honeymoon experience.

We did a destination wedding on 30A. It was pretty stressful getting everyone booked, making sure everything was set up, etc. It took a LOT of planning, and lot of phone calls, a lot of leg work. It was stressful. So we wanted a relaxing honeymoon free of stress. Wanted somewhere with minimal travel, and somewhere we could go and just relax and not worry about side trips, excursions, etc.

We went to Sandals in the Bahamas. Very short flight, very nice property(it was either fairly new or just renovated when we went) no worries about spending money since it was all-inclusive, and it really wasn't that much(I think around $3000 for a week, but this was in 2001) etc. It was the perfect honeymoon for us.
