They told me up to 15 minutes before the flight. I moved my Thursday am flight back a day.

Chances of:

My Delta flight leaves tomorrow @ 11:30am from MSY?

My return flight on Thursday makes it back to MSY at 10:41AM?

Flight lands at IAH on Wednesday 12:45pm. What are the chances here? I could also take a red eye.
I’m sure United doesn’t want to issue IAH waivers since it’s a hub.

Daycare said they'll probably have a half day on Wednesday and follow EBR in the event that schools are shut down Thursday. Might try and rebook for late Thursday afternoon. Flying to DFW then PHX for a bachelor trip and I'd rather not try and figure that trip out on Friday at 5am.

Good before winds get bad

Little early for my preference

15mph north winds around that time, that's manageable

If you do MSY on Thursday, would highly recommend afternoon even if it looks like the weather is cleared by 9am. They'll need time to inspect runways and get operations back up and functional.

I’m flying out at 7am on Wednesday. Do airports usually open for morning flights before closing or am I doubtful to have that flight actually happen? The forecast shows the storm still in the gulf at that time.

I'd say low to very low. Winds pick up by 10am, not sure any airlines will want to leave planes overnight in MSY Tuesday into Wednesday. Can you leave Tuesday night?
if the plane used for the Wednesday morning flight doesn't get there Tuesday night, will travelers be notified Tuesday night that their flight is cancelled, or will the airline wait until Wednesday morning to make that call?

If United doesn't want the plane to stay overnight in BR on Tuesday night, then they could easily cancel the flight from Houston.

This makes sense and makes me feel better about my BTR-CLT flight Tuesday at 4:30.

However its American Airlines so always an unpredictable shitshow. But dont think theyd want to leave planes in BTR of all places

Should I be worried/looking to switch?

Is it crazy to think flights planned to land around 10:30AM Wed at MSY won’t be cancelled?

20mph sustained winds (that's not even gusts) with heavy thunderstorms around 10am Wed. Maybe one of two airlines will try, but I'd be guessing no. The ramp will shut down if there is a lightning strike within 5 miles of the airport

Check to see if your inbound plane makes it in tonight. If it does, then you could be safe. But I have also seen skywest/AA/Delta operate the last flight of the flight and ferry the plane out to another station late at night like 1am.

Usually if they know it won't go on Tuesday night, then they'll cancel Wednesday morning right after they cancel the Tuesday flight. Operations wise, makes it a lot easier on the airlines to just cancel and deal with rebooking proactively

I’m scheduled to land in LFT around 9:30 PM CST tonight (Tuesday) inbound from CLT on American. Do you think that flight happens? Thanks!

Honestly, I really don't know. Seeing a hurricane warning for Laffy makes me think it'll get cancelled. Can you get an earlier flight back to Nola, btr, or anywhere else?

They could fly the plane and ferry it out after landing, but I don't know AA ops. Right now everything is still showing as going to BTR, MSY, LFT tonight but that is likely to change during the day

Charlotte to Dallas to Alexandria? What time you get into AEX? The 550pm or the 11 something?

I also apologize if your flight to Lafayette ends up going out tonight. It's really difficult to tell in these situations what flights are going to go or not go. Just trying to help people like yourself know what options are out there for getting to/from areas based off weather forecasts. It sounds like you had flexibility today for changing airports so I'm glad you're getting down to LA before it hits

I am heading to South Carolina for the LSU game this weekend. Our flight is scheduled for 10:28am on Thursday out of MSY to Charlotte. American posted that you can switch your flight with no penalty. Do you think 3:30pm or 6L30pm flights will happen out of MSY on Thursday? I haven't changed yet because we will be driving from Lafayette and trying to make sure we can make it to MSY. Thanks!
