Layover?

We’re looking at flights from New Orleans to Montego Bay. Most of the flights we’ve found have a layover in either Miami or Charlotte. However, the cheapest flight we found was to Ft. Lauderdale. The layover is only 41 minutes. We don’t fly very often but, that doesn’t seem like very long between flights. Does anyone have any experience with FLL as far as them getting people in and out for their flights? Also, do you think we’re cutting it too close with that short of a layover?

I think an hour is about perfect for me but 41 mins will be fine. No experience with FLL but as long as your first flight isn't super late you'll be fine. What airline are yall using ?

That should be plenty of time in FLL

That’s definitely cutting it close. Your first flight will need to be on time. But worst case scenario the airline puts you up in a hotel in FLL for one night. It’s not the worst place to be delayed.

We’re using JetBlue going and American coming back with a layover in Miami. We were going to go with American going and coming but we just found the JetBlue flight and it’s quite a bit cheaper.

We’re going for our 10 year anniversary and we want to make sure we get to Jamaica the same day since our resort is already booked.

You'll be fine. I really liked jetblue. Flew them from Boston to msy and it was a really good experience.

I like JetBlue just fine. FLL is another matter. The one time I connected through there in Jetblue it felt more like a bus station than an airport. Coming back from Ecuador we had to walk outside from the international terminal into the domestic, and then go through an absolute shite show of backed up security lines. It would take a pretty strong economic incentive for me to connect through FLL again.
For OP - Heading out to Ecuador, the Jetblue connections were in the same terminal so it wasn't bad. Since you're coming back through Miami you'll be a lot better off than coming back through FLL. An FLL connection without a terminal change isn't a deal breaker, but it's still pretty low on my list of airports.

That's enough time in basically every U.S. airport except possibly Atlanta.
