This thread is full of people saying that drinking a Guinness in Dublin is different than drinking it in Kansas.

I’m not versed enough in this area to know much of a difference. My cousin married an Irishman and they live in Texas - years ago they came to visit us and all he wanted to do was go to pubs and try their Guinness. He told me the Guinness in Texas sucks and Boston is as close to home as he’s found.

So apparently there is a difference.

The difference is that 2/3 of US bartenders don’t know how to pour it. That, or the keg has been tapped for way too long. I really, really like Smithwick’s. However, the last time I bought it on tap, I could tell that it had been tapped for six months or more, because there aren’t a lot of people that drink it.

Maybe he likes Miller lite..

I dont know why it causes so many here to freak out.

I know multiple people who only drink Miller Lite and if we went to a microbrewery would be repulsed by the lager most similar to it that they brewed there. It is what it is.

Glad you posted this. It is all I drink and quite frankly nothing compares to its undeniable combination of taste and less filling as advertised. I have been all over and you are out of luck, unfortunately.

Went saw and conquered. No miller lite to be found. Coors light everywhere but not good. Made peace and drank Carlsberg (became my reg while there) and Guinness (I don’t hate it, actually like it, I just want something I can drink a bunch of). Had a great time. Dublin is a really fun town. Go enjoy but if you order tequila shots, they serve them room temp unless otherwise specified. Lesson learned. (Drank tons of Jameson while there for all the people in the thread that are going to go wild about ordering tequila in Ireland)

Guiness is a very lite beer, 4.2%, it's basically water
