I didn’t want to make a new thread. I’ll see if it gets answered here.
Staying in Monterey/Carmel for one night between LA/Napa trip. Looking for a dinner rec and a hotel. Only expect to be there for 18 hours max. A nice view would be the #1 priority for dinner and with hotel in $300 range. TIA

La playa Carmel is sometimes around $300/night but if not any of those small hotels in town are good.
The only restaurant with a view in Carmel by the sea is mission ranch which is just fine but some people love it so it’s worth a shot. Others I would recommend
Pangea (Asian fusion)
Portabella
Cultura (Mexican)
Il tegamino (Italian)
Stationary
The bicycle
The Pocket
Tap room (@ pebble, best chili)
The bench (@ pebble, on 18)
Stillwater (@ pebble, on 18 - more expensive)
Fire pits at Spanish bay (get there early)
I’ve never done the two really high end restaurants (7th and Dolores and aubergine) but have heard good things.

Head up Carmel Valley & visit some vineyards: Folktale
Think we will make a lunch reservations here and then play 18 at Carmel Valley Ranch.
