I haven’t tried the Hyatt, but we have stayed at the mint house on pine street too. Very spacious (1000+ square feet) and a good condo/hotel type place. Even the pull out couch was super comfortable for my teenager. Very nice mattress and frette linens all set up for her. There is a great grocery downstairs and a good restaurant inside. In case you are looking for a new place with extra space for your next trip to visit your daughter.

Stayed at Element near times square. You get free breakfast which is huge in NYC.
Very nice and safe and near everything.

Friend,
The Waldorf has not been open since 2017, so any recommendation should mention that it is not open. The good news is that after an eight year renovation, things are moving briskly for a reopening in April. Let me tell you this: the dark and small dated rooms you may remember from the Waldorf of old have been fully updated. We met with one the managers three weeks ago and he gave us a sneak peak at a room and it sparkled. He would not let me take pictures unfortunately. We had not been in the building since 2015 and have since used The Plaza as our home away from home in NY. The updates are nothing short of impressive. Expect prices at the new Waldorf to be double the prices at The Plaza I was told.
Private residences called The Tower are set to open in just two months just in time for Advent. Mother and I took a private tour of a gorgeous condo there on our most recent trip. It was spectacular, but Mother said we could not afford the residence which is priced well into the eight figures. I am still hoping against hope Uncle will step in and save the day.
Yours,
TulaneLSU
