Lotta action on rue de Rosiers.
It’s where all the remaining Jewish ghetto restaurants are. Go to Miznon for a great bite of Israeli grilled items. (They don’t advertise in English but there some English menus hidden around)
Soum Soum is another great one
All north of you (and some south for that matter) is good shopping or the lady.

Good location. You’ll be 10-12 blocks from the big outdoor market that sets up at the Place de la Bastille on Thursdays and Sundays from 7 am to 2:30 pm. Definitely check it out—can be as many as 100 stalls depending on the season.
ETA nearby Places des Vosges is a lovely spot for le picnic, and Paris By Mouth even offers a nice list of places to buy picnic provisions in the immediate area: LINK
As long as neither of you resents basic cleaning/housekeeping, you’ll have a great time. (I know some ppl absolutely will not wash a dish, make bed, etc while on vacation. Renting an apartment means you have to tidy after yourself; no piles of wet towels on the floor for the housekeepers.)

Another couple suggestions:
Picasso Museum - right around the corner from you. Lovely, smaller museum. Not as touristy, you actually have some time to stand and think about what you are looking at.
Pompidou Center - also right around the corner. Really, really, really cool. Important historically.
Viaduc des Arts - something a little different. The VdA has some of Paris' last-remaining "artisans." Great area to purchase something that is truly unique (if perhaps expensive). In particular, Philippe Atienza (shoes), Serge Amoruso (leather goods), and Heurtalt (umbrellas), Samuel Gassman (cufflinks) have some really one-of-a-kind stuff.
