I've driven quite a bit in Alaska outside the panhandle.
Anchorage down to Seward, Glenn Highway, down to Valdez, over to McCarthy, Tok Cutoff, Alaska Highway to Fairbanks, all the Richardson Highway, Parks Highway, and the Dalton Highway.

California for diversity
Less than 200 miles to travel to 3 truly different climates.

Even Alaskan's don't know much about the Panhandle. To me it's idyllic and what most people picture when they imagine Alaska. Its the size of Florida, separated by fjords and only has 70k population. And wildlife galore.
But due to logistic issues, most people know little about it.

Its really not a bad flight
Oh, it's definitely high on the list and will happen soon. Actually just had a cousin move to Anchorage a few weeks ago and we're hoping to get up there in 2022.
