Here is where we are with options narrowing down.
Kenab, UT - day trips to North Rim, Zion, Bryce, Capital Reef, etc. 2 days there. 2 days back. Fairly affordable trip.
Waynesville, NC - exploring the Appalachian mountains, which I admit has been an afterthought to the west my entire life. Great Smokey Mountains NP trips. Asheville. Gatlinburg. Hot Springs. 2 days there. 2 days back. A little less affordable but not bad.
Kalispell/Missoula/Bozeman, MT - split trip into 2 or 3 spots with some organized migration. Exploring the towns during the week, but this is mostly focused on Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Tetons on the weekends. 3 days there. 3 days back. Big miles here are a little daunting. Considerably less affordable than the other options.
