Going to St John next month. Spirit has good airfare. I’ve seen some delays with them but looking for experienced opinions of recent fliers on spirit.

Flew recently from DFW to MSY. Just know you pay for luggage, picking your seat, there is no food/beverage options, and the seats tend to run smaller.

Overall depending on the price difference it can be worth it. Especially if you are a light packer with just a backpack. Also, just know if for some reasoned your flight gets canceled it can get tricky getting another because they run so few a day.

My experiences so far have been positive but I know what I'm getting into and luckily I haven't hit a delay yet.

I have flown the nonstop from msy to Vegas.
It’s fine.
Just remember that they change you for every little carryon so pack accordingly.

Spirit is fine unless you have to connect somewhere with them. I’ve flown them nonstop at least a half dozen times and they’ve always been just as reliable as any of the major airlines. If the airfare is close though with someone else you may wanna factor the bag charges before you decide.

There is one stop to connect to the next leg.

If I was just needing to fly from A to B, it's fine but if I had a big trip planned for a vacation zero chance I would fly with them. Something goes wrong and that cheap airfare is costing you real time and money.

Cant beat them for island travels. Small delay to Puerto Rico from FLL last week, but early on the return side. The older planes have better seats, the new ones are like sitting on plywood. No way for long hauls.

I've flown Spirit several times and had no delays.

I've flown with them about 5-6 times with no major issues besides boarding being delayed by 30 min or less. My last two experiences have turned my off to them though. Direct flight from LAX to New Orleans was delayed 4 hours and now we just found out this morning our direct flight from LAX to Cabo was cancelled and rebooked for a full 24 hours earlier

All of this in my experiences with them except they do have snacks and drinks including a good assortment of alcohol. Probably flown with them 10 times and only one got delayed.

The experience itself is fine if you pack appropriately or just know the extra fees.

Where spirit sucks is the reliability if shite goes wrong. Delta will get you on a new plane pretty quick most of the time. Spirit can cancel and leave you stranded for days.
