Exacly, that's the allure to most. With the exception of some small, adventure type cruises.
I wouldn't mind doing another cruise. I don't see how anyone could be miserable on one under normal circumstances. I prefer independent travel though.

The only plus is that if you have kids they are mostly contained and you don't have to plan how, when, where to feed them.

It certainly is not our "flagship" vacation, but we have went with friends for extremely cheap in the past and had fun.
You get what you want out of them.

We usually alternate between independent travel and cruising. We've done maybe six cruises so far and we enjoy them. No running around, no driving, no dealing with airports, no packing and repacking luggage, etc., etc. They're hassle-free vacations. All you have to do is have a nice dinner, get some good sleep, do some shopping and grab lunch in whatever ports you pull into, maybe go on an excursion. Plus I'm an old salt and I like being at sea.
