Pacific Beach on the north side of San Diego is awesome. My daughter and I spent several days there a couple of July’s ago and we both loved the vibe. Lots of SDSU students living and working in the area. But it’s not a college vibe at all. It’s definitely a Cali beach town vibe, but super close to all the San Diego attractions.

We just did the southern Cali road trip a few weeks ago.
Started in Santa Barbara and ended in San Diego.
Santa Barbara is gorgeous and was our favorite. Loved the architecture, the quietness, and it was just clean. Quintessential California to me.
Coronado was really cool for the day we spent there. Stayed at the del.
Wasn’t impressed with La Jolla much at all, but we only spent a night in each of these places.

They just reopened the Surfliner tracks through San Clemente on Monday.
We have another toad soaker coming in this Easter weekend.
Still having landslides in the Los Angeles area from our last storm a month ago. The ground is saturated.
Best to check all tracks and roads along whichever route you decide to take.

Oceanside on the way to LA to visit family. It is a very laid back beach town and if you go on a Thursday as we did , there is a nice open air market that evening. Takes up a few blocks
Good call, we actually went to the open air market in Oceanside and it was pretty kick arse. There are some pretty awesome restaurants in that town as well with beautiful patios.
