Per SEC Sports: Hoover, AL. - The 8-seed Volunteers came out on top in a second-round showdown that lasted nearly four hours as both squads scored in double digits. Tennessee took control with a season-high 20 hits, using a five-run sixth inning to take control in the 15-10 victory over the 9-seed Crimson Tide.
It was the seventh-longest nine-inning game in SEC Tournament history at three hours and 58 minutes. It was also the 17th time in tournament history that both teams scored 10 runs in a game.
Alabama practically cleared out its bullpen in an effort to slow down Tennessee’s relentless offensive pursuit. But the Vols continued to take advantage of every opportunity at the plate, racking up their 20 hits against nine different pitchers. Alabama's nine players on the hill tied for the most in an SEC tournament game. Moreover, the Vols are the 12th team to record 20 hits in an SEC tournament game, and the first to do so since 2006.
