Best Pink Floyd and Beatles Biographies?

This may be for the music board as well but figured I'd start here. Any googling produces a crap ton of results so it's hard to distinguish between what makes one actually better than another. I'm looking to read biographies on both bands listed above, mainly dealing with "day in the life" kinda stuff and good stories of the band days. I'm not quite as interested in each person's life story, like I don't really need a lot of background about their home life upbringing and what they did when they were 8 years old. I remember someone a while back recommending a beatles one from one of their producers or managers or something that is supposedly one of the better ones out there but can't remember the name.

I enjoyed "The Love You Make" by Peter Brown. He was an associate of the Beatles and tells an entertaining story from an insider's point of view.

Nick Mason' s book on Pink Floyd was very enjoyable and entertaining. Got an autographed copy when it came out.

I read The Beatles Lyrics: The Stories Behind the Music by Hunter Davies, which was pretty interesting. He also wrote an authorized biography of them early on.

The Man who Gave the Beatles Away by Alan Williams, their first manager.
Pre-fame years in Hamburg when they were poor and rough. He tired of their antics and split when they wouldn't pay his commission.

For anyone who knows little/nothing about the Beatles I recommend The Beatles Forever by Nicholas Shaffner as a solid intro. His book The British Invasion is a!so very good.
Avoid Goldman's Lennon bio.
quote:Much criticized as inaccurate and self-servingly biased. Ditto for Emerick's memoir.
