I love House of Leaves. I read it every few years, and every time the story sticks with me for days.

How are his other books? The Familiar book series caught my eye. Is it worth starting the series? Any other suggestions?

The Fifty Year Sword is really cool. Only Revolutions is more interesting as a structural experiment than an actual narrative, but it's worth reading.

I haven't messed with The Familiar due to the size of the commitment. I doubt anything he does will ever touch the singular quality of House of Leaves.

Man, it took me a “few years” to read that one. Killed my joy for reading. I get why people like it with the weird formatting and stuff, but I truly hated it overall.

The only enjoyable parts to me were the stream of consciousness bits from Johnny. (That was his name, right?)

I’ll take his sister’s music over his writing, which is funny because her song that opens up with a monologue from him is why I even knew there was a book.

I’ll be the first to admit that the book isn’t for everyone. I don’t think a single person I have lent it to has finished it.
