Missoula by Krakauer - thoughts and opinions?

I had 5 Audible credits banked, because I keep finding stuff I want to listen to on my two library sites, for free. (BTW, I hear Audible stops banking credits after 5 -- absurd.)
So, I went on Audible to find something and saw their 3-for-2 sale. Missoula was on there, but I'm really glad I didn't buy it, even on sale. And not just because of this: It was actually available on one of the libraries I belong to, coincidentally, the Missoula Public Library. So I checked it out. Just finished. Meh.
I live in Missoula a chunk of the year. I am an attorney who has always been interested in sexual assault, abuse, and rape policy, for many reasons, some personal. And I love Krakauer, generally. You'd think this would be right up my alley (if you will).
But the timing of this 2.5 year old book being promoted by Audible is interesting (it was front-and-center on the sale page), and more importantly, the book just kind of sucked.
I know it's cliche, but i reaaaaly wanted to like this book (even given the troubling subject matter). It was basically a boring account and series of transcript quotes, with the author's puerile opinions interwoven. It was both a yawnfest AND heavy handed. Shitty character development. Shitty journalistic method and style.
Any of y'all read this? I'm curious to hear opinions.
