I read the Snowman and it was pretty intense at times. Looking for another one to keep me at the edge of my seat.

these have been my go to the last year or so and I highly recommend them. I'm reading John Sandford's Dead Watch with Jake Winter as the main guy and it's a political murder thriller. Not as good as the prey series, not terrible but not great.

I have read most of the Prey books. I really like the evolution of the charactors from Davenport on down. Virgil Flowers is one of the best with several books featuring him.I haven't read Dead Watch yet.

Sandford also co-wrote a science Fiction book with Ctein ?

I found it a pretty good read about astronauts going to Saturn to save the world.

I love this book. It's bigger than big (I think), but I love it. It's the only Donna Tartt book I've read, and I can't imagine she can top it.

...but it's not terribly mysterious or suspenseful! Worth the mention here though

I'd recommended the longmire series. Way better than the tv show.

I thought from the premise this would be kind of stupid, but it was quite good. Well researched, I expect.

I usually stick to fantasy, but I did read the ones JK Rowling wrote under a pseudonym. Robert Galbraith first book is Cukoo's Calling there are three books in the series and I enjoyed them.

I read every book when he releases it... I just finished his latest, "The Late Show".

It introduces a new main character. I enjoyed much of the story, but he may have lost me as a faithful reader.

This new book smacks you in the face repeatedly with SJW bullshite. Unnecessary and it did not help the storyline. All it did was to serve cookies to the "PC crowd".

Read LA Requiem by Robert Crais.
It is the quintessential volume in the
Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series.

Then you can read the rest. Best mystery writer and series around.

The Verdict - can't remember the author
Jonathan Hart's books are great, but they aren't chair-grippers.
The Kind Worth Killing - again can't remember the author.
Early Harlan Coben
Dennis Lehane's mysteries are awesome. Hated Gone, Baby, Gone though.

Not to be the skunk at the picnic, but I thought Sudden Prey was a pretty blah genre book.
The bad guys were just violent - no brains at all; and the whole thing was predictable.

That is unfortunate. I love the Bosch and Lincoln lawyer series.

Also a fan of the Longmire series by Craig Johnson .

Anyone read any Leonard Elmore? I was thinking about checking those out next, assuming they are anything like Justified they should be good.

Elmore Leonard is probably my all time favorite author. He isn't for everybody though.

What is a good one to start with?

Is there a series that revolves around the Justified universe or just one book?

The Yiddish policemen's union.
Michael chabon.
Available in audiobooks.
Murder mystery with political undercurrents and some historical fiction.
Great job making a human character out of the first detective at scene of crime.
Nice work in many ways.

Appendix with yiddish and russian words. Hmmm. I guess audiobooks only works if you know yiddish. I read it straight through and never bothered with appendix. Christian will need the appendix.
