"The Great Influenza of 1918" by John M. Barry
This book was great...a history lesson, a medical/biology lesson, a humanity lesson, and HUGE insight into today's Covid pandemic...all technical enough to provide enough detail but explained well enough that it was easy to understand (and also get to know the people involved).
I am rarely impressed by a book but this one was wonderful.
After I finished I picked up "The Radium Girls". It starts around the same time period...but the lack of scientific progression here compared to the race for a cure in the influenza book were astounding...it's like the two could never have happened simultaneously.
Anyhow, I recommend both.

Good to know. I really enjoyed his book about a flood. If I can motivate myself to read about a pandemic, I will pick this one up.

It really is so much more than just that segment of time - you get a great backstory/preface also, and then the guy references swine flu, etc up to about 2014.
Which flood book did you read?
I have one on the shelf I haven’t started yet (Jonestown Flood I think)
