It smelled like sewer when we went. Hard to get past that.
Yes, it’s small, but it’s cozy and has a cool vibe. Fun furniture, quirky little bar and drinks. I think they were expensive but drinks are expensive anywhere these days. It really is a neat concept.
They were limiting people down there, but you are still in very close quarters with people you don’t know. We went as a group and there were a few other groups down there.
We didn’t really all mesh well.
They should book individual parties of X (whatever their max number is) for two hours so groups can truly appreciate the experience with their own people and want to go back- because we won’t be back as it is now.
For a better experience close by, try The Vintage - half coffee bar half alcohol bar with apps. Neat space, knowledgeable bartenders, excellent drinks.

My uncle flew one. He came back with a bunch of videos of him shooting camels using heat sensing radar. We all had dinner one night and the whole family watched them. Looking back, I wonder if they were actually camels….
He went to an F-16 after the A-10.

re: Thoughts on Hexclad
Posted by Sir Drinksalot on 11/30/25 at 12:40 pm to Tigeralum2008
I have one that I use on a daily basis for about a year and a half.
It has never been in the dishwasher, always used with an oil (not PAM), and never ever on the highest heat setting on my induction cooktop.
After about 6 months I noticed it was developing a burn on the bottom (in the middle) so I got mad at it. It grew to maybe 3" x 4", but otherwise worked fine.
I continued to use it, but was looking around for other options.
I had tried everything - soaking, boiling water in there, etc.
Then one day I said screw it and deglazed with a wine and scraped the shite out of it with a metal spatula. I figured it was toast anyhow so what the heck.
The stain scraped up and looks good as new underneath.
I am not sure if he was worth the money as he seems to need to be scraped after cooking with any heat over medium these days, but he is getting the job done.
I use cast iron for searing and the hexclad for everything else.
There doesn't seem to be a perfect, all around, every day pan. Each has their strengths and weaknesses. After the hexclad kicks the bucket I'll probably go back to ceramic coated cast iron.

Just finished up Ken folletts circle of days.
It did not read like his other books. It’s a dud.
Also LOTS of gay stuff in there.

re: Baked Potato Soup Recipe Needed
Posted by Sir Drinksalot on 10/5/25 at 8:45 pm to TDTOM
I made one a few weeks ago and as I was peeling the potatoes I got to thinking that it was a damn shame to throw away those tasty skins.
So I put the skins in my salad spinner, washed them, and then sprayed them with olive oil and sprinkled on some sea salt.
I put them in the air fryer and crisped them up real good. You could do the same in an oven.
When the soup was done I served it with the skins on the top.
They were deliciously crispy/salty and the ones that sunk down in the soup were also extremely enjoyable.
All eaters loved- even those who were hesitant to try.

I only use foil for covering things now.
Anything that goes into the oven has parchment paper under it.
Nothing. And I mean nothing, sticks to it.
I have all kinds of gadgets that I love (many mentioned here already) but the only one I use daily is the oil sprayer.

All of the schools have to follow the same academic standards for elementary subjects.
So your differences will be 9th grade courses, clubs, sports, school and class size, faculty and admin.
No way to decide without calling/touring and deciding for yourself.
If academics is your driving force you should ask what percentage of their 8th graders are passing the entrance exams to skip 9th grade subjects in the high schools.
So algebra, English 1, physical science, and maybe Spanish if they offer that as an everyday subject - how many of their 8th graders are taking those 9th grade classes as an 8th grader, and how many of those taking those classes are testing out of them at the high schools.

re: Catholic parishes, charities will be asked to give $60M to church bankruptcy settlement
Posted by Sir Drinksalot on 8/3/25 at 7:38 pm to Major Dutch Schaefer
No one should be asked to contribute to a bankruptcy settlement with out a very detailed plan that lines out why it happened and how it won’t happen again.
I doubt that happens but I also don’t doubt they will be bailed out by blind followers.

Milo’s zero sugar sweet tea with a packet or two of true lemon.
Shaken.
Best drink in the world, and I’m not even a die hard tea person.

re: How and why did replacement windows become so outrageously expensive?
Posted by Sir Drinksalot on 8/1/25 at 10:20 pm to LSUTANGERINE
We replaced ours and the price for financing and paying up front was significantly different and the timing was too.
Up front- 2 weeks. Financing-12 weeks.

First reaction- wow- this is great- happy this embryo worked out! Very cool.
Secondary thoughts- tons of these don’t get used/left on ice/disposed of?
And it feels weird

re: How come there are no more legendary comedy actors
Posted by Sir Drinksalot on 7/31/25 at 9:03 pm to burger bearcat
The pool used to be small.
Surface comedy, if you had a goofy shtick could make you a star.
The market is now saturated.
Speaking for my own preferences, it’s harder to claw yourself to the top now.
Surface goofy comedy isn’t doing it anymore.
Wit is what does it.
I admit I’m a McBride/sunny/resident alien fan when it comes to comedy. Because it seems witty and thought out.
I don’t even consider Jim Carrey in the same category. Don’t shoot me.

re: Does Game if Thrones not have paintings or drawn images?
Posted by Sir Drinksalot on 7/31/25 at 8:48 pm to jlovel7
I thought about this a while back but not in terms of game of thrones specifically.
Why are cave drawings so basic? Were we just dumb? a grown arse adult couldn’t draw better than a one dimensional rudimentary buffalo?
Were grown adults back then as limited as toddlers are now? Bc they drew the same.
No other excuse bc you could use your eyes and then apply to a drawing?

When I go to the beach I like to go on long walks at night and stomp on all of the sand castles people spent all day building. Sorry not sorry.

Tomorrow night we should look at her gun. I think the secretarys/office workers get revolvers. But if she has a Glock she might be legit.
