Anyone from the NFL is going to be a bigger name nationally than coaches from Iowa St, Ole Miss, pre-juggernaut Boise St and Air Force. He may not have been Chuck Knoll but that would have been more of a splash than most of the guys either of us have hired.

it will save y'all alot of wasted energy if the razorbacks realize that they won't get patterson.

"Staples: Under Gary Patterson, people will say Arkansas has a good defense, runs a wide-open passing game and recruits Texas strongly."
Spot on. This is how we won titles in the past.

He went 3-10 in his ONE season and resigned before the season even ended.
Huge NFL failure doesn't scream big name in my book.

We're not comparing him to Bear Bryant or Jimmy Johnson here. We are comparing a guy who was good enough to get an NFL head coaching job to guys coaching at Iowa State, Ole Miss, Boise State, Air Force, Wyoming and Samford.
Nationally any NFL HC is going to move the needle more in the public's eye than the head coach of Wyoming being hired.

Must have been why big name Dennis Erickson ended back at the powerhouse Idaho after his second failure in the NFL.
Big name and such.

I really think Gundy is the man that long really wants and this is a smoke screen. but i will take Patterson obviously.
I think it's one of the 2.

Truth is, Auburn still has a coach and more than likely will keep him for a couple more years

I was wondering why AU is even talking about a HC. Gene is still currently their coach. But everyone in America knows JL had a 10 month contract that wasn't getting renewed at the end of the season.
AU should fire Gene first before they discuss a new coach.

my thing is that this goes against long's mo
if long wanted patterson and thought he had a realistic chance to get him,t his info doesn't get out no way in hell.
i think he is tryint o take attention from the guy he really wants which tells me that the guy he really wants is in a very delicate situtation, i.e gundy.

It isn't Gundy, Patterson, or anyone mentioned yet. If they've been mentioned it means that somebody in JFBAC wants it out to deflect attention.
I think it's someone like Roman, but it won't be the first choice.

What titles? Arky rarely beat a ranked team while in SWC. Look at their pathetic bowl record.
It will be tough to get Patterson to go to Arky 300 miles away from recruits. He will do better at TCU or Tennessee.

Rest assured, his name popping up now means he won't be the new coach
Yep, just means he will get a raise at TCU
