Supposedly wanting to be the best gets you fired for losing 3 games

After this precident what coach wouldnt choose the path of least resistance to the CFBPO?

Miles stays.

Bill Walsh has been resurrected and will serve as co-OC. Frank Wilson will be the other co-OC. Jon Gruden has been hired as ST coordinator. Book it.

(Eerily silent since the rumors of Jimbo hitting a snag came up.)

And, just for the record, I've felt like Jimbo was unlikely while Chip Kelly was a very real possibility.

So I'm either one of the few sane, clear thinking individuals or out of my damned mind. I guess time will tell.

For what its worth, I believe you're sincere. Now, how the hell a guy in - another school's AD shop knows the inner workings of what should be very delicate and sensitive negotiations, I'm not sure - but I believe you are reporting what you've heard.

I just don't put a ton of stock in it for the reasons above.

And I don't mean to sound 100% skeptical - I'm skeptical because this isn't my first rodeo - I've been dealing with LSU coaching changes since I was 12. It is NEVER the first name you hear. Never, ever. And Jimbo only makes a little sense because of his stint here as OC for Saban and Miles.

So, while you're credible, your source - whoever he is - wouldn't necessarily be in the best place to relay accurate information, although he may be telling you what he heard.

Just wait until a head coach is named and coaching staff speculation begins. The goofballs on this board will have everyone from Barry sanders to ratphuc hobley coming to coach in br.

Obviously he's leaving Philly to go somewhere. He's just never coached in the South - he's a NE/West Coast guy. They want him at USC and that makes sense for his return to CFB.

That's why I never drank that Kool Aid. Jimbo is plausible, if he weren't already the successful coach of FSU. If Jimbo was at, heck, even Georgia Tech, or, frick it, Arkansas - it would make sense. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see it. Folks say his family situation (divorce) is the wild card here. I'm not sure I buy that, because now with a split custody arrangement, instead of folks driving kids back and forth, they're going to have to be on planes every other weekend.

Unless the ex-wife is moving to BR with him. How likely is that?

You're like 2 weeks behind on this.

The theory is that Candi wants to move back to BR and out of FLA.

Terry Saban loves LSU and Baton Rouge, too.

Paige - I'm not going to argue with you anymore. Les may very well be done. I don't dispute that. The next coach may very well be Jimbo.

But, folks lining up assistants and timelines are just spouting off second, third hand information AT BEST, and most likely trolling hard. If this happens, it will be drawn out and it could very well be Christmas before a successor is named - possibly after, but I suspect they will want to wrap up all but the crying before that break. Assuming it is Jimbo, he is coaching a game - later today as it is now Saturday morning.

It's just too quick of a turnaround, because he's not quitting FSU until he has everything lined up exactly.

Occam's Razor says this is a Sexton ploy to get a raise and/or extension from FSU. I don't care if he just got one - Sexton will explain to them his value is up because of interest from LSU.

That's the case until it isn't, as far as I'm concerned, with all due respect to DA, RLH and other posters who have offered insider information.
