Safe to assume if lanning didn't leave Oregon for bama, he may not leave at all unless he gets the NFL itch.
I hear ya, but he seemed very genuine about how much he loves it in Oregon now. When the A&M job was open he was saying how much he loved Oregon. He straight up said he is tired of moving and raising his kids in Oregon is what he wants to do. I know plans can change, but he seems really sincere about it.

That's not a bad rationalization.
3 years ago, Dabo was looked at like Kirby Smart is today at UGA. People were talking about whether he'd even consider leaving Clemson for Bama when Saban retired. They definitely weren't talking about Bama not wanting Dabo.

Im pretty sure I called it. Now watch them get told no by Kiffin, Sark, and Kirby, and have to settle on Dabo.

After Bear you had Ray Perkins and Billy Curry who were mediocre coaches.
After Gene there was Debose, Fanchione and Shula. All mediocre.
Id expect about the same for the next coach or two after Saban.
