Don't think him and Jeremy Foley got along very well.

How can he win?Starkville is not very attractive for recruits, but with talent around him he can win games.Remember he was the OC at Florida for some years with Urban Meyer and at Utah with Meyer.

Regardless of how you feel about Starkville, there are plenty of coaches that know how to recruit to shite towns. The guy who posted earlier is correct, Mullen gives no effort on the recruiting trail. Now this season the effort is gone in the games. It's kind of Les Miles feel (best way to correlate it to ya'll's situation), thanks for everything but it's time to move on.

Pretty simple. He and Foley don't get along.

With AD out, Mullen would love to bolt.
He's reached the ceiling at MSU.
He would have crawled to Miami last year.
Now, with the bad year his stock is taking a hit.

why are they upset with Mullen
Guessing you didn't see them get their shite pushed in by Auburn at home on Saturday. Auburn could ahve easily scored 50 on them. When Diaz left for Miami last year he hired a guy from USC no one had even heard of in this part of the country to be his DC.
Mullen loses games he is supposed to win every season and gets blown out too much. He would be just a small step up from Miles. You would be trading a little bit better offense and getting a guy that doesn't give two shits about defense.

Freeze is Home, he is from Oxford and this is his dream job. He is not leaving on his own.

Mullen hasn't been horrible at State, but if we are going to go one state East to get a coach, get Hugh Freeze. He's got more big skins on the wall in 4 years than Mullen has in 9.
"Another part of the angst around Mullen undoubtedly stems from Hugh Freeze’s run of success at Ole Miss. Though the two programs’ win counts both overall and in SEC play are identical from 2012-’15, the Rebels went to two New Year’s Six bowls to the Bulldogs’ one. Freeze also has defeated Alabama twice, and he’s outrecruited Mullen—though the additional recruiting success in Oxford has come with an NCAA investigation." LINK

"fishy"? maybe but in all likelihood it was just bad blood with Foley. after what I've seen this last week I can understand Mullen not having any respect for Foley. I know I damn sure don't and wouldn't work for the sob either.
