balas sure is adamant about that...

Yep and they may be right. I don't doubt he's interested. I never felt he'd stay if offered, but who knows? He may never have had an offer.

Me and Cauble both speculate that Wangler was talking to Martin on Les' behalf and maybe knew what Les' chances of getting the job were/are and I feel he was publicly campaigning for him with his comments in the paper.

If Les Miles still wants to go to Michigan, then he should go. I like him, I think he's a very good coach and that he's capable of winning consistently.

That said, if his heart isn't in it at LSU, it's time for him to go somewhere else.

i just can't see Les going after the stuff he said at the news conferences before and after the sec title game. and i gotta think that UM will have a guy hired sooner rather than later. If Les leaves he will be looked at even worse than Saban, and I don't think he wants that.

It may not be. But, with all of his affirmations in the media about staying at LSU, he'd have the media all over him if he left.

There are some reasons I could see him being turned off to the UM job because of the Carr faction and the assistants he'd have to keep who are loyal to Carr, among other things.

I could see him not getting an offer because supposedly Carr is on the search committee but on the other hand, I just have this feeling that some terms were being put together last week but Martin couldn't promise him an interview without meeting him in person.

I'd say its still a long shot, but like I said Les can always say "when I said I was staying at LSU I meant that, but once UM offered me I could not resist"

UM may be embarrassed over what happened this weekend and that could make them want Les more. If no one is named within the next 10 days then I think we can start worrying again.

Until Michigan hires a coach who isn't named Les Miles, I will assume that anything can happen...I know he has made the statements to players that he is staying, so I find it hard to believe he would bolt. It would probably weigh on his conscious if he left after lying to them...

Who knows.....we'll see. Anything can happen.

I still feel there may have been some truth to the info Kirk received at the time he received it, he just didn't double check with both LSU and Michigan.

In fact, UM's Rivals admins said last week that Martin had contact with Les' people.

IMO, the likelihood of UM waiting until January to SEE if Les will go there to coach is just TOO RISKY. If he ended up saying NO in January to them, then they'd be screwed silly. (more so than they are now).

BUT, if for some crazy reason that did happen and LSU was the last to know, then we'd be up a creek at that point in January.

We REALLY ought to lock this thing up with Miles NOW. Pay him whatever he wants and then enjoy the holidays.

If Miles jumped on a plane to go to AA and sign a contract, Saban would be in La before the plane could hit the ground.

You guys dont have to worry :P

yeah, Saban is probably the greatest fan of the Miles to Michigan idea.

UM wouldn't have to wait until January to see if Les wants the job. Les does a little time off right now and its not outrageous to think UM could be putting out feelers again

If we dont get a coach that is what folks are saying. I have no clue/insider info cept my free rivals this week....doubt I keep it unless this isnt over soon.

It looks like if Ferentz isnt hired like real fast anything could happen. regardless a lot of powerfull alumni/boosters arent happy over this mess. Most folks dont seem to want Ferent....I know I dont.

it sucks when people put their own agenda ahead of the program you get cluster fricks like this. letting a guy hand pick his successor is always a terrible idea. We did with our baseball team and it set the program back years
