I'm sowwwy Carl.

Am I bad because I refuse to buy into a fourth hand un substantiated rumors; because I prefer to have facts over rumor, inuendo and childish musings; because I don't join internet lynch mobs led buy people who are totally cluless about how a football team really operates: because I turn my back on people that delight in character assinations while hiding behind their keyboards?

I can live with that.

Due to a lack LSU-related news coming out, 95% of the stuff that is posted on this board regarding LSU coaching changes is rumor or stuff somebody heard from someone else. If you really had a problem with "fourth hand un substantiated rumors" as you put it, you wouldn't be reading any of these posts.

1. Maybe, just maybe someone will post something substantial. It does happen.
2. The "I heard it" means nothing. People have been saying that GC was going to be replaced since September. Of last year.
If you don't know something is true don't post it. I mean you expect us to believe that some trainer in some JC in Texas has indepth information regarding LSU football? Just beause the guy at the end bar stool said it?
Please.

Logically, this doesn't make any sense

yes it does

teams don't know his offense, then after year 1 his tendencies and plays/formations are scouted cold

Regardless, the guy called one of the most prolific offenses in LSU history in '07.

most talented team in the NCAA and he used a lot of jimbo's offense. as he's implemented his offense, we've gone to shite

I think there is hope for him if a qualified person took over QB development.

this is a part of it, but his offense and his patterns of playcalling have been studied cold and he's not goin to do shite in the SEC any time soon. defenses know what plays we're running most of the time

I totally agree with you, man. No one should ever question the performance of the coaches unless they have coached at that level before. The Rant should be filled with threads projecting next year's starters and Day Wishes. And no one should speculate about coaching changes on the Coaching Changes Board.

Aren't all teams extensively scouted? Don't all DC's have tendency charts on the opponents? Isn't that how defenses are prepared?

yes, but most coaches know how to change things up in playcalling/scheming to diffuse the study on the offense

crowton has failed at this

yes, but good OCs know how to use this against a defense by thinking on the 2nd level

crowton plays into these charts perfectly

We are the best fourth and short offense in college football, esp. from the punt and FG formations.

If only we could show some improvement on the other three downs.

A change in offensive coordination is needed, was needed, and will more than likely still be needed come 2011. I think it's obvious that the ball is in Crowton's court, and he's having a hard time advancing it.

I'm not here to defend Crowton but there are a lot of inconsistencies in the criticism of him. Some say there's no rhyme or reason to his game planning while others say his pattern gets figured out by opponents. This sounds inconsistent to me.

Another says the QB ability to read defenses and the play calling are equally the problem. Seems to me if the QB can't make the reads then you can't really say whether the playcalling is bad.

I tend to think that the QB coaching is the main problem. I think he is a pretty effective game planne and play caller GIVEN a well coached QB.

And just to be clear, I do think he should be replaced assuming a reasonably capable replacement can be found.

it's not inconsistent

his patterns are illogical, but consistent

he's never shown the ability to develop a QB, though

it's both.

yes you can. Regardless of whether the qb is awful he is running the plays the coach tell him too.

which he is in charge of.

he is in charge of coaching up the qb. In addition, he has made qb's worse everyone he has been.

and even if he is an effective planner and play caller.. that alone should be reason to part ways

Welcome to the rant. Logic, reason and football knowlege are rare here once the villagers get their torches and pitchforks out. The only consistancies are their delusions.

How f'kin naive are you? The advise I have for you is to avoid internet message boards. MOST of the information you see posted on any board is innuendo, rumor and opinion.

You are definitely in over your head here.

WE ahve some of the best talent in America and he is a failure at leading it to a respectable position.

It IS that simple! No arguing the facts.
