No I’m saying if Lane makes it to one of the premier jobs in CFB (LSU) I don’t think we’d have to worry about him jumping ship, again.

He’s absolutely not the first HC to be in this position. He’s the first one to turn it into a drama series.

Except he very literally is. We’ve never had a 12-team playoff with this recruiting and portal calendar and that comes with that.

Again, Ole miss is smaller than their coach. He runs that little town. They'll do what daddy says.
That said, I feel a bit bad for him too. He's the first coach to ever be put in this position in this day and age with the new portal window, NIL, signing period, playoff schedule, etc.
That's why all of this is so unprecedented and bizarre.

Lane will be making about $14 million dollars per year in adding to millions already in his bank account.
I don’t feel sorry for him at all.
He earned it.. so good for him !!
I feel sorry for the families that can’t pay their bills.
That’s hard reality my friend !!!

I mean flying your family to prospective job opportunities on the bye week of your current playoff bound season and essentially not hiding it is not “doing right by everybody”. Additionally he has knowingly been extremely non committal in interviews which is rude under the circumstances. It’s not like he’s 9-3. He’s 10-1 I’m the midst of the best season of any Ole Miss’ fans life and he’s got his mind on other places or trolling for more money from their boosters
It doesn’t make me not hire him but it’s a pretty low move to his current fanbase

You're on to something with this post. Basically Lane can't decide. He wants the LSU job but he's brought Ole Miss to a great point and doesn't want to leave in the middle of it. Saban is taking the job if Lane signs the extension in the morning. And will stay here for better timing for Lane. I'm hearing he's signing the extension unless he has a change of heart tonight. If he signs, Saban is the guy.

Yeah the expanded playoff makes it exceedingly difficult for any head coach and even coordinator to accept another head coaching job because of the portal window in January overlapping with the playoffs.
