Well, I have some mixed feelings about that. I think Saban has a set up in Alabama where he has established himself and has taken a bit of the edge off that he began with. I think in ways that edge assisted in turning Alabama around and while he doesn't need it to that high level here any longer as everyone seems to be synced up, if he does go to Texas, in terms of zeal and edginess I don't know if he has what it took several years ago to turn things around as quickly as some might expect.

The talent Shula recruited was pretty underrated, actually. Mainly because he couldn't fricking coach them.
I've also heard tell that Mack is a lazy recruiter and that he has a lot of rather large holes at certain positions.

Mack will do the banquet...then over the weekend will tell his team personally he's stepping down then he will announce his retirement/resignation whatever the Saban will be announced the next Texas coach shortly after that...

Yeah Shula had decent to good classes. Talent was comparable. Attitude is more important anyway. In this particular situation

Responding to people with their avatars is one of my 'things'. I used to respond to practically every post The Boat ever made with his when he had that Okie State girl making a retarded face as his. I've hit LsuTool with his more than a few times.

I wrote about this on another thread. The Process will take a year maybe 2 to be put in place. I don't care how good an athlete, who he is kin to or how big a star, if he does not buy into the program, he is gone.
This is a totally different mind set that players will have to adopt and with conviction. If he is your next coach, you will have controversy the first year. Your big money boosters who are paying for all this are going to be pissed about their lack of access to the program. They will have to keep their mouths shut also.
The LSU people just think that they understand Saban's program, but he has perfected and fine tuned it since his arrival at BAMA. He would definitely win at Texas, but with the culture already in place there he would have his job cut out for him.

Mack's problem is fundamental. he locks recruits in waaaaay too early. he only wants kids that are died in teh wool Burnt Orangea nd will commit by their Junior years. His philosphy is if you ain't all in early then fine---go to A;M, OK, etc...
the result is he gets kids that hit their physical peaks earlier and don't really grow/improve as they go through college. while the astue programs wait a majority of their recruits out, make them earn their spot and process the guys who don't cut it (Saban isnt the only coach that does this).
Hell I think any coach in the SEC aside from Mullins may go win a champtionship at TX

I know Texas has some top end talent. Some key positions need work though plus, as I said earlier, Saban might not have the same level of flair now and starting all over as he did years ago. Who knows when someone even possibly gets burned out?
