In the era of haves and have nots in the P4 I think we may see these young G5 coaches getting have not jobs like Arkansas and Oklahoma state and if they win games there, then get the big boy jobs.

The two hottest young gun coaches aren’t the first two dominos to fall if they are serious candidates for these better jobs. They took the worst two openings available while we’re seeing guys like Kiffin and Drink entertaining offers at conference rivals. Obviously not true 100% of the time as Sumrall looks to be getting a good SEC job, but it looks like P4 poaching may become more of the norm.

The interesting thing to me is that I would prefer both Golesh and Morris to Sumrall. Yet Sumrall is getting more press.

Probably because this is a dumb take. And I don’t want to hire Sumrall.

Golesh is much better than Sumrall.

Arkansas is already a pretty big time job. It's not blueblood good, but it's still a damn good job with history and money behind it. Win there and they will pay their guy.

Arkansas is a prime job. It's in the SEC and has money.

Sumrall has a lot more experience than both of those guys

Arkansas doesn’t spend on football and from people that way know, it seems they don’t intend to. They’re in the bottom half of the conference and closer to a have not than a have

Wut?

NIL has completely changed the attractiveness of jobs. If we are going full boar in NIL we’ll be a Texas Tech, we some big resources that wouldn’t back Pittman.

The gap between "big boy jobs" and any random P4 job shrinks by the day thanks to the portal/revshare era.

It's all about money. If Golesh took Arky he believes Walmart/Tyson whoever the hell guaranteed him a good NIL warchest.

Or he was never a real candidate for Florida, Auburn, Penn St, Ole Miss, etc

Gundy made $6.75M in his final year (he took a pay cut after the 2024 season). I don't know what Morris' initial salary will be at OKST, but it'll be more than the $1.4M he was making at UNT.

If he wins, someone will try to poach him. That's better than the alternative.
