Makes no sense. You gave Lovie a shite team and he did his best. But this is absolutely firing him for costing them the #1 pick. I’m glad he did it, frick the Texans. shite tier organization

He played for a tie in the first game instead of playing for the win. The division was down and Jacksonville was exhibit A of anybody could win it. Lovie had his team playing competitive for 45 minutes of the game but could not close it. Also the regression of Mills as the QB was his fault. He was the best rookie QB last year and looked to be a good transitional QB until the team was ready for a QB. The NYG also had a depleted roster in cap trouble yet Daboll was able to make the franchise relevant. The one game that he needed to lose to give the Texans the player of choice, he decides to go for a 2-point conversion as a final act of defiance. That is not a forward thinking coach. For all that the Rooney rule is supposed to be, Lovie Smith is the one that sets it back.
