That might be the dumbest thing I've read since this board opened, and that's saying something.

Napier is on the list not sure why OP omitted him. Right after "Aranda" in the "Trending Up" section.

It was an oversight. I accidentally left out Napier. I will edit OP.

Jimbo and Riley need to come off the list, both are highly paid and at very prominant programs. OU will be in the SEC in 2 years. Jimbo is already in the SEC why would they make the move? Also why is Kiffen on the list? 2 years at ole miss and he is ready for LSU? See Texas as why we shouldnt listen to talking heads. Stark is not as good as advertised and Herman didnt last 3 years.

Needs to be Fickell or Tucker. why Gary Patterson get's no love is just stupid.

We are screwed on the coaching front, just wait.

This is my problem with AD Woodward. He is a Jimbo guy, and that irks me to no end. You cannot define Jimbo without INCONSISTENCIES. The Jimbo folks say he is an "elite recruiter." SOMETIMES he has been. What about all the 9 & 3 seasons or worse? How in the hell do these folks refer to him as an "elite recruiter" with the glaring INCONSISTENCIES? Why the hell are they biased? Why the hell is AD Woodward biased? Does AD Woodward want the very best coach in the country, or does he want to keep sucking his buddy Jimbo's d?

He recommended Houston Nutt as his replacement when he left LSU, so I’ll take his advice on such things with a huge grain of salt.

Jimbo will be Les Miles 2.0. He will recruit well and play a style of football that will keep LSU in games. However, much like Miles, his offense is outdated and shows an unwillingness to adapt.

Also, Jimbo’s reputation as a great QB developer has taken a hit in my opinion since going to TAMU.

Fickell interest is cooling, as sources say he really is interested in waiting for Ohio State and very focused on making the playoffs right now

This may indeed be true--fickell may in fact be waiting for the OSU job--but it seems to make somewhere between very little sense and no sense whatsoever. Ryan Day has been excellent for Ohio State so far, is only 42 years old, can both recruit AND coach, and has an alma mater that isn't in the top tier of jobs. All that adds up to "he ain't leavin anytime soon". It would be one thing if fickell was already at a power 5 school and was "waiting" while cashing $5m+ checks each year... but he's not. He's at a top G5 school and has them humming, but he's actively leaving several million dollars per year on the table by "waiting". Just doesn't make any sense to me.

Really? You don't understand why people might want a coach who is 54-10 with 4 CFP appearances and an elite offense every year?

You might disagree with him, and your likely criticisms have been noted elsewhere, but to say you don't understand it is you not trying.

Jimbo has not said no yet, and Woodward is going to push until he gets an answer.

The thought that LSU would remotely consider guaranteeing $100+ million to a guy who still hasn't proven he can win in the SEC at a higher rate than Les Miles is insane. Still, I don't put it past Woodward to do just that. The ultimate laughing through tears would be to watch LSU get their shite together just enough to beat Jimbo in the final game only to find out shortly thereafter LSU's AD has agreed to pay a fortune for a guy who can't even beat LSU's buffoon they just fired.

Saban really likes Mel Tucker which makes Woodward really like Mel Tucker.

Who would have guessed the HC of your biggest and most hated rival would be so benevolent and give you advice on how to beat him? What a swell guy that Saban is.

Fickell is six years OLDER than Day. Is he thinking Day is going to make a jump to the NFL sometime soon, or leave OSU for his alma mater, New Hampshire?

This statement in and of itself discredits the entirety of the "information".

quote:

The NFL wild-card is Matt Rhule. He's on the list but "further down the pecking order." It would take "some other dominos dropping" before he was a serious candidate.

That Rhule would be a serious candidate for LSU? Or that LSU would be a serious candidate for Rhule? He is in year two of a BIG seven year contract given to him by Carolina. So big that it reset the market significantly for first time NFL HC hires. Unless he just absolutely hates coaching in the NFL I doubt LSU is a "serious candidate" for him, not the other way around.

It sounds like the guys at 247 know about as much as any average bozo on this board....maybe less
