Sigh. He did not "improve" Colorado. That simply never happened. He went 5-7, the same as his predecessor.
sigh...how about a little context, Mike macintyre start 18 5-0 before losing the team and losing 7 in a row.

Colorado's defensive rankings declined under his watch. Same at MSU, defensive rankings have declined every year, including this one. Will decline further after OSU. The man has one winning season as a HC. He was 5-7 and 2-5 in the last two years. He was terrible as an NFL DC. He's had no consistent success anywhere in his career. Zero. Completely unqualified to become LSU's coach. Should never hire someone based on a single outlier year. Too high risk and too stupid.
I don't have the energy to keep educating our fanbase on the actual facts of Tuckers career, so just read this post:
rest of it I dont care about. In the end i dont disagree with you. He would be behind the following for me
Riley
jimbo
Fickell
Aranda
Campbell
Napier
but lets nto discount his ability to recruit and overall the job he has done this year becasue of you not feeling like he is a good DC. there is a reason he keeps getting those jobs.
reason why his team is currently top 10 and prolly finished the season 10-2
reason why he has the 3rd best class in conference for 2022
reason why he has the rep he has
not again, i dont disagree with you, but overall there is a reason woody feels the way he does.

quote:ditto. Unless Fickell has some indication from Day that he's very interested in an NFL career, I don't get it.
This may indeed be true--fickell may in fact be waiting for the OSU job--but it seems to make somewhere between very little sense and no sense whatsoever. Ryan Day has been excellent for Ohio State so far, is only 42 years old, can both recruit AND coach, and has an alma mater that isn't in the top tier of jobs. All that adds up to "he ain't leavin anytime soon". It would be one thing if fickell was already at a power 5 school and was "waiting" while cashing $5m+ checks each year... but he's not. He's at a top G5 school and has them humming, but he's actively leaving several million dollars per year on the table by "waiting". Just doesn't make any sense to me.
One thing is for sure... NFL owners are a bunch of lemmings. Copycats. Kingsbury and Rhule having success will absolutely lead to more courting by NFL teams for the hot college names like Riley and Day.

I still think it is going to be Rhule. He is under the radar, which is exactly where I think SW is working.

So we are looking at a coach because Saban, who is a rival coach, “likes him”? Yea Id recommend somebody shittier than me to be my opponent so I could beat their arse every year too! Thats just fricking dumb.
He isn’t recommending anyone. He does openly praise Tucker and promoted him within his ranks substantially, putting his money where his mouth is.
I know this board hates Tucker and I’d definitely rather a few other guys, but he is a solid candidate. He is an absolutely elite recruiter and has fielded some very good defenses as coordinator. His work ethic and intelligence are widely respected as well.

How is Fickell a lateral move but not Napier.
yea how the frick is fickell a lateral hire but not napier?
how is tucker a lateral hire but not aranda?
makes no sense. all are better coaches that O for sure.
i mean logical order of the search9assuming NFL HC are off limits along with Smart, Day, Saban & Dabo) is
1) riley
2) Fisher
3) Fickel
4) Aranda/Tucker
5) Napier
not my rankings just saying based off achomplishments thats how they have to be ranked.
personally i want anyone but franklin but would be extremely disappointed in jimbo.

You had us, until Fickell is waiting on Ohio St
Where is Ryan Day going? anytime soon?
USC is the player for Fickell if he wants to make that move with his former AD out there

I stopped reading when Napier was over Aranda

Aranda might be a secondary target, but Billy is a tertiary target. If the best woody can do is to hire a coach who’s team plays in the sun belt conference then I would have to say he failed his biggest test to date.

Jimbo has not said no yet, and Woodward is going to push until he gets an answer.
fricking gross.
