I dated a half Iranian in my single days. Her dad played for the Iranian Olympic soccer team and then defected when the Ayatollah revolution happened because he was Christian.
He came to America and married a white Baptist girl. Had a daughter.

A friend took his entire family on a vacation to Iran around 15-20 years ago and loved it. Said the Iranian people were extremely kind and friendly towards American tourists.
