John Harbaugh? What a stretch...is he a Michigan Man by association?

Be interesting to see if they had contacted a viable candidate to take the job, or just reached out to someone they know is happy where they are and will decline to speak with them.

If they do the last of the two to me it indicates the candidate they will really want to speak with is still coaching either in NFL or college.

John is said to love Michigan as much as his brother and is described by a Baltimore source to thewolverine.com as a better collegiate coach than professional coach due to his personality, motivational tactics and "controlling personality" that doesn't mesh with professional athletes.

There is a new update. Hoke's chances have diminished and Balas says he thinks there will be a bigger fish to get the job. Stanford made an offer to Jim H that exceeds SF's offer while Miami and Ross ponder an even greater offer of $7 or $8 million. An LSU source to Balas says that it's 50/50 as to whether Miles would leave for Michigan if offered. Miles will be in the mix, Balas predicts.

Michigan admin Balas is worried that Miles may not want the Michigan job due to the damn strong LSU team coming back.

Miles and Michigan would announce deal or no deal by weekend? Is that the consensus train of thought on Miles? It's apparent that the pot is cooking for some announcement either way with Miles by Sunday.

Balas said yesterday that Hoke's chances decreased from Wednesday to Thursday. He also went on to say today that Miles is definitely in the mix, but he feels that there is another secret name out there in the mix as well that no one knows about.

Some other insider guy on here said that our players felt an announcement would be Sunday or Wednesday if Miles were to leave.

Sunday or Wednesday? There will bodys in the streets if they drag this to Wednesday

Balas will not put percentages down but you guys are getting a better feel than we are so let's put down some odds.

Miles 40%
John H. 25%
Hoke 15%
Someone Else 20%

a poster just mentioned a reputable poster on the OSU board posted that miles is intentionally avoiding all contact with Michigan admins.

Balas said "B.S."

no idea what that means

Is Balas then confirming there has been contact or is he just smacking down anyone speculating without a source. It's pretty naive to believe the back channels are not at work here. The quietness from Michigan tells me all I need to know about who they are targeting.

He says no contact until after the game.

ETA this is about actual contact, not feeler search firm see if you are interested via your agent contact.

It's too quiet on UM's front for miles not to be the target

My thoughts as well. If Hoke was the choice he'd there already.

The ball is probably in Les Miles' court.

Their latest update there looks like Balas knows its happening, JMO. It's still an opinion piece though.

if it means anything...

Chris was asked if he thinks that Les is now the "far and away leader in the clubhouse"

I'd say yes, and I'll have an article up shortly as to why.
