I think the challenges are different but the talent gap might end up being similar. And it took Leach until year 4 to have a solid team and he’s finished in the top 25 once at Wazzu. They were pretty bad this year when you consider how awful the PAC 12 is.

There would likely be some highs like last years Wazzu team where he wins 9-10 games with a veteran squad, but I also think there would also be some real lows where he wins 3-4 games and struggles to win a game in conference. I don’t think he would replicate Mullen there, I think the lows would be lower. If you’re saying MSU should be good with that I agree but I just don’t think it would be the overwhelming success some think it would be.

I will get downvoted away I’m sure since Leach is a deity on here but IMO he should stay put unless he’s unhappy or something there

Recruiting to Leach’s system from the MS talent pool might be tough.

Leach would be close enough to pull kids from Texas where the Air Raid is pretty widespread in HSs. Plus, what QB or WR doesnt want to play in that system?

Ones that cant go to Bame/LSU that is

Starkville and State are very similar to Lubbock and Tech.

Lubbock has a quarter Million people, Starkville has like 30K

Gardner Minshew is a Mississippi native that turned out pretty good in Leach's offense.

I question whether Leach would work for a douche like Cohen for very long.

I agree! I have nothing against Miss St or their fans but I can't stand Cohen because he is such a dick!

This is such a stupid take. HS kids play football. They have to be coached up to play college football and coached up again to play pro football. The only kids that come in ready are WR, RB, and DL and that is because it doesn't require learning a whole lot to get on the field when you are a beast athlete.

According to @bobounds, AD John Cohen went to Key West this week and interviewed Mike Leach for the vacant Mississippi State job.
