Why would a life-long Oregon Duck who has spent the entirety of his career at or within eight hours of Eugene suddenly leave the West Coast?

Perfectly good question about any of the candidates so far. There's no telling... I don't know the man.

@Sheadixon: For reference: Oregon DC Don Pellum made $400k this past year w/ a max bonus of $258,333. John Chavis made double that w/ the bonus.

That's surprising he was only making that.

Probably a bad comparison, but I'm sure the same thing was said about Mike Riley.

Jameis shredded that defense. If his fellow skill players would have been up to task, that game is a shootout rather than a blow out.

DC at Oregon. According to Ponamsky on Culotta and the Prince.

Dude has spent his entire career on the West Coast. Born in Cali and played at Oregon.

Seems extremely unlikely he'd want to come to LSU.

Or Bama.

Or any other school in the SEC.

Call it a hunch.

I've got to think the NFL is the only way he leaves college coaching on the West Coast.

Mike Riley played for Alabama. Has family roots in Alabama. He also had coaching stints in the CFL and World League so he was known to move around and didn't confine himself to college gigs out West.

And when he did leave Corvallis (the first time) it was for the NFL.

I don't see Pellum leaving Eugene for anything but the NFL.
