My first thought too. I read where another poster commented that he despises the media limelight. Seems more credible with this move. He'll obviously get less microphones in his face at Washington than he would at USC.

Pat Haden is coming out of this deal with egg in his face. How do you whiff on Petersen and hire Sark only to see Petersen take Sark's old job.

Actually, no. It was Saban to UT.
One of his usual sources, who he says has been very accurate, called him and told him that Saban was headed to UT. Colin said he spent 90 minutes trying to get two other sources to confirm it, but he couldn't.

Maybe one of the smartest coaches ever. He goes to a safe job where average gets a raise. Guy has no guts to go to a big program tho.

I don't really agree. Haden cannot put a gun to Petersen's head and force him to USC against his will. It's well known that Petersen hates the limelight. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that he's not a good fit in Los Angeles. He's a better fit at UW. So I'm not really sure what Haden should have done.
I think Sark was a solid and safe hire. Both programs upgraded.
