Very comparable to Spurrier and USC. Arkansas would never have gone to the SECCG those years had it not been for down years in the West. Had they had to fight it out with the Big 3 in the East, no way.

Ark. media is now saying that Petrino will have the highest paid staff in the SEC. They are opening the wallet for him evidentally.

That's my feeling too!

Yeah S'port is definitely LSU territory...went to HS there. I do remember the Lou Holtz show being shown in S'port in the late 70s though. Kind of liked the elf as a coach back then.

When I heard we told Muschamp "nevermind", I knew something had to be up... didn't expect this though

Fox Sports also reported that the Arkansas staff will now be the highest paid with Petrino pulling in 3 mil right off the bat and a hefty allowance for assistants.
Those who are familiar with the Billions of dollars Arkansas (Wal-Mart&Tyson) has access to, should not be surprised that they opened the vault.

Just a couple of thoughts, comments, etc. from Atlanta.
Atlanta media outlets have also reported the $3 MM/year salary - not sure if that is an offical word or if all reports are coming from the one source. WXIA mentioned it would be a pay cut when compared to what he was making with the Falcons.
There were a couple of interesting comments made on CSS SportsNite. One was that Blank needs to educate himself in how to be a sports franchise owner, but that isn't really relative to this situation.
What was brought up that made me think was comparing this situation to the Saban deal. They said if you remember the Saban PC in Tuscaloosa, there were a lot of Miami sports reporters there to give him grief about the way he left. Given that Petrino is leaving with three games left in the season, will the Atlanta media make the trip to Fayetteville and will Petrino get the same treatment (or worse) from the media than Saban did?

Arkansas AD needs to call Michigan and tell them how to land a quality coach.
