Appears OU was played as well. This came out of nowhere I can say as an OU fan this has left people speechless.

It’s not even a “better” job. But it’s certainly an easier job.

ESPN just reported Riley to USC as well.

Louisiana is a shithole. Hate that you can’t accept this.

Yeah, pretty much. Few good areas in it are engulfed with the ghetto that are getting swallowed up each day. Pretty soon won't be any good areas left. Everything about Louisiana is destitute and this coaching search is par for the course with shitty leadership.

However, highly hyperbole to say all of the south is like that. Louisiana though? Definitely not hyperbole. Anyone who lived in LA and moved out would know that.

Well, everyone was right about the smoke. It was just coming from a different fire. Goodness, I sure hope he gets USC into the playoffs on the regular to take a spanking from whichever SEC team is there to meet them.

Agreed. I could see taking the LSU job but this one doesn’t make any sense.

Does he realize Louisiana relies more on the federal government than almost any state in the country? Probably not.

Maybe Riley was using LSU as a smokescreen all along in his attempt to get more out of USC and we were never a part of a plan to bring Riley here

It’s possible

Maybe his family played into this equation? There was reports Riley wasn't happy with OU and the boosters over there so he was looking for an out. He may have floated all the LSU stuff as a way to get leverage against USC to give him what he wanted. I'm sure LSU had genuine interest otherwise all the boosters and higher ups wouldn't have reported it like we did. So we got played for sure and I highly doubt we had a Plan B ready to go since we thought he was our guy Monday.

What makes this worse is Napier is gone now and Aranda might not want to come back to LSU as he already agreeing to an extension? Stoops and BOB looking realistic now.

Straight scared of the SEC ??????

My thoughts when I first heard this. I made friends with the idea the of Riley, but I told my sons my concern was what appeared to be his lack of regards for a strong defense. He can most likely prosper in the PAC whatever without an effective defense. But, the current OU team is a middle of the road SEC team.

On the contrary, I'm much happier to learn that he's willing to leave but recognizes that he's not willing to be an SEC coach.

I don't care how talented you are as a coach, but if you shy away from coaching an SEC program because, well, "it's too hard"...then it's for the best it worked out this way.
