Or they landed the plane there to make it look like they went after Miles so they can say "sorry we tried" and no one would know any different.
Bingo.
The more I learn, the more I think Les Miles has never had an offer to be the Michigan head coach. not in 2007, and not now. This is strictly my opinion, though.

FYI - belowpar just posted in one of the threads below:

Nothing is decided either way, so there is nothing really to say right now. I really think it all depends on how good Michigan sells the situation to him and if they can get his heart to switch. (plus the money of course) If I had to guess right now it would be staying at lsu, but more should be known tomorrow.

if true, your AD is really a screwed up bunch.

no, the news always comes from you first. everything else can happen after a news conference, at your place, with the new coach.

True.
But we can be some speculative mo-fo's until then!!!

yes, you never leave without your man, because winning the press conference is ultra-important. You're not going to let him linger a few days before getting him to town.
You want him ASAP and get him to town. The longer he stays in Baton Rouge with his kids the harder it will be to actually get him to AA.

This.
My gut tells me Miles stayed behind because he hasn't met with his team yet.
Next leak I would expect would be a leak that Miles has scheduled a meeting with his team. Either tonight or early tmrw morning.
If Brandon had failed to get Miles, he'd be flying to San Diego or Scottsdale, not Ann Arbor.

He's said the same thing for 3 or 4 days now. Unless Belowpar is Miles, I think he is as much in the know about this particular situation as we are. Michigan and Miles are trying to keep all this secret.
Also, ESPN just said Miles and Michigan to meet tomorrow, and Miles will accept if offered. No new news.

Also, I think Miles and his agent called Michigan's bluff by leaking to ESPN "If Michigan offers, Miles will accept."
Michigan either A)gets baited into offering/hiring Miles or B)looks bad for not offering/hiring Miles.
Either way, Miles wins ... he gets offered the Michigan job or gets to make the people that are blocking his hire look bad to their fans.

I think the part about speaking to the team is most important to Miles. He IS a standup guy and that's why he may not leave with the AD. Things like addressing the team, and letting them know that he cares for them, etc. are of the utmost importance to him.

Yeah, Brandon flew all the way to Baton Rouge today but had no intention at all of offering Miles a job.
WTF are you smoking? You're pulling for the Ducks tonight, aren't you?

I'm pretty drunk, but I think ESPN reported that Les told Joe Schad he would likely accept if UM offered.

I agree with everything but the last part. Don't underestimate the statement that Hoke has basically pre-accepted the Michigan job. He'd fricking run there if he got the text from Dave Brandon.
Although I agree with this theory. Miles would tell his team.

heres a couple of ideas that popped into my head.. they made an offer and he accepted Brandon is heading back to ann arbor to get it approved by the board.. miles is going to take the other michigan plane to dallas tomorrow after telling his team.. then head to ann arbor for the announcement. Lets call that michigans best case scenario ;)

Those of you saying this is just to say "Oh well we tried"
Dont you think LSU would have come out with something by now saying Les has declined Michigan job
BelowPar is as good a source as anyone on this board at this point
