Y’all soon forget it was Mrs. Terry that told Nick it was time to hang it up when recruits mothers were asking her how much their son was going to get instead of how are you going to take care of my son?

He don’t owe LSU shite.

I wish he’d have never left, and hate that he went to Alabama, but he doesn’t owe LSU anything.

Saban is 74 , has all the money he’ll ever need and has won multiple championships at 2 different schools. The one thing he can’t get back becoming a head coach again would be time with his family.
I see this as the longest of long shots even if he does talk to LSU.
Not to mention I believe he hates NIL and especially the transfer portal as it currently stands

Saban said he quit coaching because he didn’t think he could win anymore.

Not quite. He retired for the same reason he quit the Dolphins. Overpaid prima Donna’s! He wanted to coach and mold football players. With the portal, it’s not only having to recruit but also having to protect your good players from being poached all the while keeping them satisfied. It’s not the same game as it was when he came to Bama.

It would be awesome and hilarious to laugh at the hammers if this happened but come on folks, it's a pipe dream and just not gonna happen. I wish though...

Miami Dolphins are NOT in the SEC.

Saban came back from the Dolphins fiasco to become the GOAT in college football. It’d be a shame for him to ruin his legacy in the new world. Maybe LSU is just looking for advice from him.

Agreed. Unlike his buddy Belichick, he knows when to leave on a high note.

Esp with his role still at Bama

He either wants to come coach college football again or he doesnt or thinks he cant. I seriously doubt he gives two craps about the analyst position he holds at bama.

They may contact him... but there is no chance in hell that he even entertains a passing thought of actually going there to coach. It just ain't happening.

LSU will go after the best possible coach and work down the list. That’s just common sense…

FOR frickS SAKE, WHAT IS THIS PLACE’S OBSESSION WITH A ‘head coach in waiting’

Yes I used all caps, because this shite gets under my skin so much. Has this ever happened at LSU? In the SEC??? EVER?!?

Why is this such an obsession with this place? I’ve never heard it mentioned anywhere else but here - and it happens all the damn time

Jimbo was head coach in waiting for Bowden. That’s the only time I can recall it working well. Muschamp was HCIW at Texas but jumped to Florida first. I believe WVU had a situation recently that did not work out well.

The delusion of some ,LSU fans in this thread knows no bounds. Saban owes LSU, hes dying to get back into coaching, make him ad after 3 years and have him groom a hciw. Lol do y'all even think logically before posting?

Saban had everything at Bama. The two problems he had were
1) assistant coaches turning him down due to age and them not possibly looking for a new job next year after agreeing to come there. He even said the last year was especially rough on him because he had to take on much more responsibility coaching players himself which took a toll. He literally said he was killing himself because of his standard he set and he didn't know if he could do it anymore
2) players just wanting to know how much money and playing time they are getting or they are transferring.

The man is about to be 74 years old. He has all the money he could ever care to have. Car dealerships, commercials. His legacy is pristine. He doesn't want to tarnish it

Of course they will, and probably already have. But he won’t do it. Yes, he regrets leaving LSU, but that ship sailed a long time ago. He’s too wise to risk coming back and it not going well. He’s in a great place now, and as they say, “you can’t go home again.” He understands that.

I fully believe LSU will make him the first call, and he will think on it long and hard. But I don’t see him taking it as this current time, unless he wants to prove to everybody that he could win in any era.
