With the increase Miles received, I don't think we saved anything...

This is true

When Pelini left, Miles didn't hire another Defensive coach did he? I don't think so
So we have an extra spot,
We don't have an extra spot.
That spot was taken up by the Special Teams coach.
And both coordinators received pay increases.
I doubt that we saved much money from an assistant coach standpoint this year.

The best turn around philosophy is one where good athletes know what position they are supposed to be and understand how to make good decisions on the field. Chavis teaches this to his defenses. Our problems are not with scheme --instead execution and decision making.

I sollemnly swear, attest and affirm that I shall edeavor to not panic, fret or otherwise post language that may be classified as rantarded in the future. I may lapse from time to time, but I will try to remain calm.
Man, I have just got to stop listening to all the BS.

Probably not, but LSU is a 58 million dollar revenue machine
We will do what it takes
Our New AD was brought in to take the money revenue to new heights

I like Chavis. Sign him up. I am also on board with O and Willis. I am really interested in who we're bring in to coach DBs. We've got a lot of really good talent in desperate need of knowing who they are supposed to cover.
I really like the high pressure D, but unless you've got really good personnel you can get burned too often. In a few years our corners will be up to the task, but for the time being I'd prefer we keep the blitzes to the right moment. We'd be better off teaching our DL to rush the passer...
In addition, I tend to think that a read and react is actually a better plan against a spread offense. Usually there are lots of short passes out of the spread. This is usually bad news when blitzing. plus, as passes have greater chances for mistakes/turnovers, a bend and not break philosophy is probably a good option.
The main thing is to vary the D so that the O doesn't know when the blitz is coming.
Thanks Belowpar! Also thanks to Dos Crystals!

I've heard so much talk about Walker and Chavis but I thought Greg Robinson was also a leading candidate. Any reason his name hasn't been brought up recently?

The very first reference in the press, quoting him, indicated to me that had little to no interest in the job. He may be waiting for a smaller school's HC job. Who knows?

Below par is usually right on with his predictions but I just talked with an LSU coach and although Chavis is in the final three he said he was pretty sure Walker would get the job.(Chavis is his choice FWIW) He also said Orgeron wants to be the coordinator but Miles is trying to convince him to be the DL coach and recruiting coordinator. Yes Lane is also gone!

Was this an offensive coach or Defensive coach?
Did he say why he wanted Chavis?
the report we have received have been that Chavis (belowpar) got an offer from Miles already so wonder why he thinks Walker will get the job?
Interesting questions are raised to your tidbit news..

I asked Coach McCarthy Saturday night if his former colleague at UCLA was heading to Baton Rouge to join him and he smiled and said that Dwayne won't tell him anything about the situation.
I thought it was an interesting answer

Check out Vega4LSU's previous posts (only 77). He has consistently claimed to speak with LSU coaches over the last 2 years. Once he claimed his brother is a coach. Asside from one lapse where he said we would retain the Malleveto, most of his "Scoop" seems potentially legit.
Bleowpar: Chavis
Vegas4LSU: Walker
We shall see how it unfolds. Either way, I'm happy!

Yeah, Sid, I posted (just a few minutes ago) in the "DC Picked or not?" thread pretty much the same thing. Based on geography (Vegas), the time he registered (Spring of 2007), I am inferring that Vegas4tiger is Gary Crowton's brother. I am basing that on my own analysis of his posts. His best information has been on the QBs, but he also has had good info on coaching decisions, and some recruiting. I hope I haven't flushed him, but I have to call them like I see them under these circumstances.
