True story, funny story. When we came back from Kosovo (early 2004) we demobed to Ft. Dix. The only advantage is that we could get a pass to go as far as Philly or NYC. Both of our Albanian interpreters were from the Bronx. One (he's a NY state trooper now) rotated back, too, and he came and picked up and took us to the city - well the Central Bronx and we took the train into the city.

Everything went well, but returning (well after dark, mind you) the Subway broke down, and we had to hop up to the surface and take a bus transfer. Punchline, I think we were in the 220s, and we rode the bus all the way through Harlem and the South Bronx. I like to call that, "Upper Uptown".

Still no news on if an offer was made to Chavis. I think they talked numbers but Chavis is getting interest in several DC jobs so it is possible he could take one of the other ones, but he's definitely the top choice as of now. Also Coach O either gets done or he is using LSU to get a raise from the Saints. I'm about positive he doesn't go anywhere else, atleast as of now.

I absolutely agree. I've said this from the beginning, though I'm sure he was attracted to a similar position at Tennessee, the push-pull factors probably favored him staying at New Orleans. He might have gone to Tennessee as the DC. The difference is - he definitely would jump to be DC at LSU.

belowpar, you've updated us on Chavis and Orgeron - what about the other rumors regarding Willis and Raymond - anything to add, confirm, deny on those two, in particular?

so, you think Miles would make the announcements before the bowl if the hires were all in place?

Guess we will have to see who wants to come here. Can't go wrong with any of those choices. Chavis would be my pick, then tenuta, walker.
