Ok, how many teams has ogeron got on probation? This is a myth. He may be a little rough around the edges, however, people claiming he will get you on probation is a false statement.
Secondly, who has more of a proven track record of recruiting, developing, and success as a defensive line coach? Three schools, three really good defensive lines, all producing n.f.l. talent.
Third, This is business. If someone is talented, can help your program, you get the most talented guy to do so. you let go of the past and move to the future.
It's like saying you wouldn't want to hook up with heidi klum because she has a baby with an 80 year old man. I bet most people look past it.

depends if bridges were burnt
remember, football is a business w/ a lot of egos in it and personnel decisions aren't always smart business decisions... just look at Miles promoting his buddies to CO-DC last year when he knew he could get away with it despite the obvious lack of credentials for the position
Further, let me ask you this hypothetically: If Miles were to have another bad year in 2009 and get canned and Saban became interested in the LSU job again, do you think he would get it just because he was the most qualified professionally?
No. Bridges are burned there.
From some of the things I've heard that Coach O did against LSU and Coach Miles while at Ole Miss, I would be surprised if Miles is all of the sudden okay with him just one year removed from some of that.

that was most of his post.
and is a great example of the thinking that gets some programs in trouble.

Is washington going on probation b/c of sarkisian?
is tennessee going on probation b/c of kiffin?
is UCLA going on probation b/c of chow?
If this is the best example you can come up with then i'm not worried in the least.

Ok, maybe a bad analogy. I can take that.
it's probably a bad way of saying, get past the past, everyone has skelaton's they wish they could forget, and move forward.
People are on here talking about O getting us on probation. There isn't any merit to that type of statement. Miami, U.S.C., and Ole Miss are not on probation for Ogeron coaching there. They are all better from when he got there.
So what we are doing is going off of speculation and hearsay of what we think or heard O did while at ole miss. Therefore, we shouldn't hire the guy.
Then why are people wanting to get rid of lane?
If my line of thinking hurts the program, could NOT hiring a quality d line coach do the same?
look, like it or not, (and i'm huge miles supporter) our program is at a crossroads. We can hire Great people Or we can hire Great coaches. love him or hate him, no one can deny Ogeron isn't a good defensive line coach.
If i thought Ogeron would get us on probation, i'd be against it. I just don't see evidence of these accusations. I can get past a few little tiff's on the recruiting trail that lended him only marcus tillman that we wanted.

Can we finish? That is the question....
I hope so, we have a chance for this to be real special, and it has a chance to be real disappointing to what could have been.
It sucks that much more because it seems all our last big fish are considering BAMA and LSU and maybe one other school.
It's remarkable, not a Texas or OU or ARK, or OLE Miss or UGA, it's always freaking Alabama that is the other choice..
What the heck is he filling this kids heads with?

YES WE CAN! :o)
Ogeron would not take over henson's duties. It's more of a title to get more money. He could only help henson, he's done it, good at it, only be a benefit i'd think.

Not trying to be a jerk, or hijack this thread, but I see you're trying to recreate the "quotes" in other posts. Here is how to do it, from the >> Guidelines/FAQ link:
• Finally, the “quote” button lets you highlight text from another post when you’re responding. You can do this one of two ways. You may copy and paste the text into the message field, select it again, and hit the “quote” button. Or, you may select the text in the original post as it appears at the bottom of the reply screen, and hit the button. It will automatically be pasted as a quotation.

cause someone is wrong...and chavis is not necessarily the #1 choice - I think walker is personally, and chavis is waiting on us to answer clemson
This is the most logical explanation. But these things do not always follow logic.

do you really think Josh Henson decides who gets a scholly offer from LSU and who doesn't?

Agreed
Belowpar has a great reputation here for posting facts that come to be true
He said Chevis is Miles top choice
Another poster named Vegas4LSU is neighbors with and LSU FB coach, and he says Walker is the guy to be hired
so it will be interesting to see what happens

there are people out there citing inside sources saying walker, orgeron, willis is a done deal
there are others saying chavis, orgeron is a done deal.
this had been a rollercoaster but i will be more then happy with either. I just want our tigers back to normal.
