1. Culture fit. As an alum and Louisiana native, he would have the deep appreciation for the school and state that was missing under Kelly. Retaining/hiring the right coaches like Raymond and Wilson, having alumni around the building, recruiting and retaining in-state players.

This is not a thing no matter how much idiots say it is…our best coaches have been total outsiders. It’s stupid.

Kelly would have been a culture fit had he won. He sucked so then he’s just an unlikeable prick

Its amazing how players pushing a certain candidate and that candidate having gone to LSU can drastically impact how you people think

If Shepp went to Tulane and was the exact same guy with the exact resume you would be laughing your arse off at the very thought of this

Never a head coach at any level

Never had to recruit

Sounds like the perfect candidate right?

I mean he was a good linebacker and he's apparently a good DC in the NFL so that's like the exact same thing right?

This is an entirely different animal than hiring a college coordinator because they have been in the process for years, including recruiting.

He's not going to be the head coach at LSU for his first coaching gig. It really is an incredibly stupid proposition.

I'm guessing if he wanted to be in College then he would be. We can't handle the job to someone with no College experience

He's also barely even been a coach at any level

He's had a good half season on an already established playoff team and people act like he's the next superstar coach it makes no sense

We pass on him now, we may be watching a superstar coach somewhere else when he could have easily been ours.

Sounds just like the experts on Napier.

Warming up to Kelvin Sheppard

Agreed. Everything I've heard from former players helps me to understand why he's been so successful in such a short time.
However he has no head coaching experience and he is likely to be on the path to be a NFL head coach which most think is much more desirable that college coaching.
