Just a friendly reminder

I think the resources Aranda will have at LSU will be a game changer when it comes to recruiting. I think now that Aranda has become a head coach he knows now just how important it will be to get top notch talent.

1) recruiting. I love Dave but he would need elite recruiters on his staff at all times
2) The way football is going, I know Georgia is an outlier but footballs becoming more and more of an offensive game.

I just can’t even. Riley has made the playoff MULTIPLE times. Dave inherited an 11 win team & is 9-9 I think.

And Dave keeps beating him with inferior talent

A choice between:
1) A defensive coach who has won a National Championship, severely outcoached his counterpart in all 3 meetings, and has beaten teams with inferior talent and program;
Versus
2) An offensive genius who has been schooled by his counterpart in all 3 meetings, inherited a top 10 program, and has routinely lost to teams with inferior talent.
Who are you choosing?

What’s your definition of “routinely”? He’s lost 6 conference games in 5 seasons.

2019 - LSU had superior defensive talent and OU scored 28 points. Problem for OU is LSU scored 63
2020 - OU beat Baylor by 13 scoring 27 points in the win
2021 - Baylor won with a great defensive effort.
OU is averaging 23 points against Aranda's defense. I absolutely LOVE Aranda and would be ecstatic if LSU hired him, but can you explain to me the whole "Dave keeps beating him with inferior talent" argument?

Assuming you have someone that meets this criteria ready at the gate ?

I love Aranda but if I had to pick between him or Riley, I'm picking Riley. The guy has an insane record, has produced at least two Heisman QBs back to back (I think I have that right). Get him a top notch DC, I'd love it. Bring on anybody.
I get it, but he's never won a playoff game. Just getting to the playoffs is worth something.
I honestly thought (and may still a little) that we'd get Aranda but reading the stuff I'm reading, especially from posters that I trust (I get that too
but there are some reputable posters on here), reading the stuff I read today really has me excited.
Aranda would be my second choice, no doubt, but I'm feeling good.

Meaning that Aranda has limited Riley’s offenses to pedestrian/average if not below.
And Aranda did it 2 of 3 times with Baylor defenses.

I assume you're referring to when LSU beat OU. That was a combination of Burrow, Jefferson, Chase, Clyde/Chris Curry, Moss, Marshall and when Baylor beat them (not sure where the inferior talent part comes into play but whatever) and when Baylor just beat them this past weekend but gave up 27 points?
ETA: I had the score wrong. Baylor scored 27. OU scored 14. My fault

You think LSU's sick arse offense in 2019 had a little bit to do with OU's altered game plan as the game progressed? Again, I'd take Dave in a nanosecond and if I had to choose it would be tough. But, it's a classic case of a great offensive mind vs. a great defensive mind. As head coaches, they're 1-1 against each other. It's a war...a chess match when they meet but these two coaches are the very best at what they specialize in. To make it sound like Riley was outcoached in such an embarrassing manner is overkill. Personally, I'd take either one in a heartbeat.

What game did you watch? OU didn’t score 27 last Saturday.

This wasn't directed toward me, but I made the same mistake. OU is averaging 23 points vs. an Aranda defense. Still, I'd be elated with either guy.

You're right. I had the score backwards in my head
Point is that (Baker helped me out here)

Yes, Aranda's defense held OU to their lowest scoring games two years in a row, this year and last year (I think OU won last year though but I'm not certain).
I love Aranda, don't get me wrong.
Personally, I'd take Riley over Aranda just because he's had more experience but if that doesn't work out, I'd love for Aranda to return to LSU. I don't even have to think about it.

Even o and les won nattys and this clown can’t win a single playoff game
Give Riley a chance to recruit at LSU for a season or 2 and see what he can coach here. The fact O and Les won should make people realize what they're working with down here has the power to even transcend coaching.
